About the Role
4pm-9/10pm weekdays and 8am-10pm weekends.
The client is a 13 year-old boy. Wears diapers and is nonverbal. He doesn't poop in a diaper, but goes into the shower and squats to poop. DSP will need to be comfortable disposing of this in the toilet and cleaning up any mess. Client pees in the diaper then immediately takes the diaper off to put a clean one on. Client has a history of aggressive behavior, however this is now a rare and mild occurrence. The DSP will need to be comfortable giving medications. Client enjoys swimming, puzzles, and going on car rides.
Requirements
Minimum Job Requirements:
18 years or older
Pass a Criminal History Check.
Valid driver’s license and insurance.
CPR and First Aid Certificate (within 3 months of hire)
State required online training courses (pre-hire and within 3 months of hire)
Continuing Education (24 hours per year)
Basic knowledge of technology, including the ability to use a smartphone for timekeeping, submitting daily and quarterly shift reports, communication with office and client family, and additional requirements as needed.
Has direct experience working with children and/or adults with varying levels of support needs (Including experience with intellectual and/or behavioral disabilities).
Understand requirements of maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding individual information.
Be literate and capable of understanding written and oral orders.
Be able to communicate with individuals, health care providers, case managers, and appropriate others.

Direct Support Professional (DSP) / In Home Care Giver Responsibilities and Duties:
This role involves caring for a client on an individual basis in their home environment as well as taking them out into the community to learn skills and socialize. This role varies depending on the client but can involve teaching skills of independent living such as self-care, behavior management, budgeting, cooking, shopping and cleaning. Family Relief Resources is not a physical facility -100% of activities happen in the community or a client’s home
The DSP role can choose to work with 1 or more clients on a regular basis. It is important that the DSP collaborates with the clients' families directly, and with FRR, to create a stable weekly schedule that meets the needs of the client and their desired outcomes. We need enthusiastic, patient, caring, creative and dependable support workers that are ready to make a difference and integrate into their client’s family with love and kindness.
