About the Role
Schedule: Fridays 4pm -7 pm and Saturdays 8-hour day shift (Ex. 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm), additional availability during the week (optional).
About: The client is a 7-year-old boy who is nonverbal and uses an AAC device to communicate. The family would love someone with experience working with nonverbal children. They would also prefer a DSP with experience with seizures as the client experienced seizures four years ago. DSP who will play with the client, including reading books, singing, practicing counting and writing, and spending time in the garden playground and sensory room. DSP will also provide support feeding the client and changing his diapers every 4 hours. They would like someone responsible and timely, who does not cancel last minute (except in case of emergencies), will stay off phone/social network while working (except in emergencies), has good hygiene, and is truthful and reliable.
Requirements
Daily Requirements:
Scheduling – each DSP has a set schedule with the assigned client(s)
Smart phone – use a cell phone to clock in/out for visits and complete the daily progress notes.
Patient, Kind and Positive – caring for clients with disabilities requires someone who can be patient, support the client through kindness and understanding, and provide positive reinforcement throughout the shift.
Driving – depending on the client, they may need to be driven to community events or appointments. Valid license and insurance required if driving will be needed.
Support – develop and maintain positive working relationships with the assigned client(s), their families and the FRR Support Manager
