About the Role
Schedule: Weekdays: 6:30-8am & 3:30-8:30pm. Weekends: open. (TBD: School in-service days, summer)
Client is a very sweet, 14-year-old girl, who is non-verbal and non-mobile. Client communicates via electronic device, as well as facial expressions and gestures to convey needs and wants. Outside, client uses a wheelchair, and indoors, is able to move by scooting on her bottom, or using a scooter for the house. Client is an accomplished trike rider, who has competed in, and won, several races and been featured in magazine articles. Family is seeking a DSP who can provide ADL support, as well as being a positive companion. Client had a DSP for 4 years, with whom she grew very close, and she continues to enjoy DSP support and connection, becoming very excited when they arrive for visits. Family would like a DSP that can provide transportation support, using the family's adapted vehicle. Other enjoyable activities of the client include boardgames, trips to the library, or perhaps a bike ride, if the DSP can keep up!
Requirements
Daily Requirements:
Scheduling – each DSP has a set schedule with the assigned client(s)
Smart phone – use a cell phone to clock in/out for visits and complete the daily progress notes.
Patient, Kind and Positive – caring for clients with disabilities requires someone who can be patient, support the client through kindness and understanding, and provide positive reinforcement throughout the shift.
Driving – depending on the client, they may need to be driven to community events or appointments. Valid license and insurance required if driving will be needed.
Support – develop and maintain positive working relationships with the assigned client(s), their families and the FRR Support Manager
