About the Role

Schedule: After-school care M-F; 2:30pm-6:00pm

Needs: The client is a 6-year-old boy who needs a DSP who is vaccinated for COVID including booster shots. A DSP who can provide transportation would be preferred but not required. A DSP with at least one year of experience working with a child with ASD would be preferred.

Daily job tasks include caring for the client, working on projects, reading, and talking to him. Taking him to the park or library and encouraging skills like sharing, cooperative play, etc. Goals for the client include working on coordination, fine motor skills, and transitions, as well as communicating his feelings. Socialization and playing with new friends would be helpful. Some emotional regulation help needed. The client is generally very sweet but sometimes has a hard time with transitions, and taking instructions, especially with a non-preferred activity like writing or math. The client can resort to physical violence when he is exceptionally dysregulated. His go-to move lately is kicking or headbutting. He isn't very big yet, so it doesn't hurt that much, but it does happen. He is getting better at using words to describe his feelings, so he is often able to express when he needs help with regulation.
