About the Role
Schedule: Weekend afternoon help, short shifts (around 1.5 hours) at first, then increase to longer shifts as DSP develops a good relationship with client. Additional hours will be available in summer months for established DSPs (schedule TBD) and when school is out for in-service days as well as on fall/winter/summer.
This 12-year-old girl needs DSP who she gets along with naturally. She's super sweet, though also very oppositional when having to do non-preferred activities. This can present in using harsh words, but her family knows her triggers/can teach DSP about them. Client does best when she has lots of time to process and when she is allowed very slow transitions. Family is looking for a DSP who can provide transportation/take her into the community, especially during the summer (outdoors, parks, libraries, etc). Prefers someone fun and lighthearted who has silly energy and likes to play various games, etc. Family thinks that she might get along better with a male or non-binary DSP, but they're open to all genders.
