About the Role
Schedule: Fridays 4-10pm (start time flexible as long as before 6pm) It would be useful if DSP stays longer occasionally. More hours likely available in summer. Respite/24-hours shifts available once a strong relationship is established.
This 14 year old client is the brother of client #1F0009G. The family is looking for a DSP to work with both brothers and engage with them on their level. They don't want to feel like their DSP is a babysitter. DSP should be more like a friend who helps them achieve their goals. This client is a kind, shy individual who benefits from patient encouragement and structured opportunities to build his confidence and independence. He is working on social skills, self-advocacy, and developing personal interests. An ideal caregiver will be patient, encouraging, and able to create opportunities for him to gain confidence in social and everyday situations. Encouragement without pressure is essential for him, especially when he feels frustrated.
